  • The following is an overview of our streamlined intake process:


    Complete a Calendly booking here to schedule a 15-minute intake phone call with one of our clinically-trained Intake Coordinator.


    After the phone call, our Clinical Intake Coordinators consult with the Clinical Team and Dwellness Co-Founders to identify candidate clinician(s) who match with your personality and support needs.


    The Clinical Intake Coordinators will communicate the candidate option(s) with you, session fees, and contact information.

    New clients schedule an initial consultation appointment directly with their clinician and establish a regular schedule for ongoing appointments.

  • Dwellness is not on any insurance panels and is considered out-of-network for all plans. However, clients may choose to file claims for reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. Check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

    Do I have (out-of-network) mental health insurance benefits?

    What is my deductible and has it been met?

    How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

    What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

    Is approval required from my primary care physician?

    Is telehealth services covered?

    You will need to supply a CPT code to your insurance provider when asking the above questions. During the intake process, please ask the Clinical Intake Coordinator for the applicable CPT code(s).

  • Client fees for sessions are based on a variety of factors including the experience and expertise level of the clinician providing support, complexity of the case, anticipated frequency of support and case duration, format of services (e.g., in home, in person, and/or virtual), etc.


    Typical session fees start at:
    Virtual: $275/45 to 60-min session
    In-Home/In-Person $400/60-min session


    The session fee includes a clinician’s session prep, in-session time, notes and clinical documentation, brief between session check-ins (if needed), brief/infrequent collateral email and phone call communications with external professionals involved in the client’s care, and more. If you do not have insurance, or do have insurance, but do not have out-of-network benefits, please alert the Clinical Intake Coordinator so that we can provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of treatment based on your session fee and anticipated frequency of sessions. Our fees are at or below market averages. However, we understand that therapy at these price points may not be accessible for some, even for those who do have out-of-network benefits. We can offer lower fee services to individuals through our advanced clinician training program. Please access this chart, sourced from government data on New York City Area AMI, to determine whether you are eligible for support through our need-based, sliding scale program. We will add eligible individuals to a waiting list and match them with a trainee clinician on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • To best support our clients’ needs, our clinicians draw from the following therapeutic techniques*:

    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
    Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
    Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
    Family systems therapy
    Gestalt therapy
    Motivational interviewing
    Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
    Regulation Focused Psychotherapy for Children (RFP-C)
    Psychodynamic psychotherapy
    Theraplay
    * Please note that Dwellness clinicians do not conduct neuropsychological evaluations; however, the results are utilized to better tailor interventions.

  • The first session, which we term the Initial Consultation, is typically 75 minutes in-person/in-home or 60 minutes in virtual format. Ongoing in-person/in-home sessions are 60-minutes. Ongoing sessions in virtual format are typically 45 - 60 minutes. Sessions are usually 1x/week or 2x/week. Clinicians will make every effort to accommodate requests for pre-scheduled sessions of longer duration (typically 75, 90, or 120 minutes), increases to the frequency of regularly scheduled sessions, and/or supplementing regular support with ad hoc sessions. All additional time for extended sessions will be billed on a prorated basis following the standard session rate for the case.

  • We have a financial responsibility to our clinicians and an ethical obligation to our clients and, therefore, we maintain a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Should a client cancel within the 24-hour window or no-show to an appointment, the client will be responsible for the full session fee. After three consecutive occurrences of late cancellations or no-shows, or 21 days, whichever is longer, our clinicians are ethically and legally obligated to commence the discharge process. Clients are permitted six 24-hour+ cancellations per calendar year. Beginning with the seventh instance, the client will bear financial responsibility for keeping the time slot open and available to them or, otherwise, will forfeit this time slot with their clinician.

  • Dwellness clinicians aim to be as accommodating of their clients’ schedules as possible. Whatever meeting schedule client and clinician establish, it is important for clinical and logistical reasons that clients respect the commitment they have made to the therapeutic process and their clinician and prioritize making it to all scheduled appointments.

  • Clients who live in New York State. If you live outside of New York State, we encourage you to contact your insurance company or primary care physician for a referral to a practitioner licensed to operate and practice in your state.

    We support clients across the lifespan: early childhood, school-aged, adolescents, parents, families,and any clients facing challenges related to identity development, palliative care/end-of-life, and chronic health issues.

  • We have clinicians available to support clients in the following languages: Arabic, English, French, Hebrew, Hindi, and Spanish.

  • All Dwellness clinicians are fully vaccinated and boostered for COVID-19. For any clients meeting with a Dwellness clinician in person, client and clinician commit to following CDC recommendations during in session and out of session time, including frequent testing, and communicating openly and in real time about potential or confirmed exposures and diagnosis. Dwellness clinicians utilize the CDC’s Quarantine and Isolation Calculator and we encourage our clients to do the same. Client and clinician always have the option of transitioning any in-person work to virtual format on a temporary basis for health concerns.

  • Yes, we are proud to have formed partnerships with local schools in the Brooklyn community for in-person social-emotional learning support and coaching for students and learning teams. Additionally, we have grown our collaboration with IntegrateNYC and CitySquash since Dwellness’ founding days and look forward to continuing to support their students through individual and group therapy opportunities.
