Megan Gaffney, MHC-LP
Megan Gaffney (she/her) is a mental health counselor who uses a mix of warmth, intuition, and compassion to build trust and create a genuine rapport while assisting her clients to gain a better understanding of themselves and their values, to create lives filled with meaning and connection. Using a creative and collaborative approach, Megan works with clients across the lifespan to understand and address the challenges they are encountering and to identify patterns and perceptions that are hindering positive experiences and relationships. While Megan tailors her approach to serve each individual, family and group's set of unique needs, she is drawn towards a person-centered, experiential approach, in tandem with the application of tangible strategies and coping skills.
In addition to individual and family counseling, Megan has led grief groups in which she has drawn upon her personal experience moving through complicated grief, bringing to her groups the intersection of her clinical skill and the lived experience of harnessing the healing benefits of an empathic group support.
She also has over a decade of experience working as an educational therapist with teens, young adults and adults with ADHD, executive functioning challenges and co-occurring clinical issues. In her work as an Executive Functioning coach, Megan has worked with students, professionals and family systems to strengthen organization and efficiency, craft strategies to reduce and manage anxiety, better manage interpersonal relationships and chart future paths based on a deeper understanding of an individual or group's goals and desires.
Finally, as a fellow parent, Megan understands the unique struggle that caregivers may experience as they aim to raise and support their children‘s growth. With a personal understanding, Megan brings her clinical skills to parent coaching sessions, offering an opportunity for self-reflection and concrete strategies to manage specific issues.
