Alexis Powell, LCAT, RDT

Alexis Powell (she/they), MA, LCAT, RDT, is a licensed creative arts therapist, executive functioning coach, registered drama therapist working in New York City and upstate NY. Alexis is a clinical supervisor for Dwellness, an in-home psychotherapy practice providing support to individuals and families across the lifespan. Alexis maintains a private practice, offering creative arts therapy and executive functioning support for individuals, couples, families and groups with a focus on LGBTQIA+ populations.

As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT), Alexis believes that creativity and access to the imagination is an essential tool for self-discovery, transformation and health. When we become stuck in life, these tend to be the first tools that we lose access to. Their approach is body-centered, trauma-informed, holistic and individualized, and also recognizes that our relationship to healing is directly impacted by the communities and systems that we are part of.

Alexis is a frequent guest lecturer in the program for drama therapy at New York University on the topic of cross-cultural humility in creative arts therapy, and has published research on exploring intersectionality through embodiment.
